Bloomsburg Falls to Top-Ranked Georgia College
MILLEDGEVILLE, GA- The Bloomsburg University baseball team lost 11-1 to top ranked Georgia College in the second game of a two-game series on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bobcats got off to a quick start, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. With two runs already in and two outs in the inning, Georgia's Mike DeVeaux hit a two run home run over the centerfield wall to put Bloomsburg in a 4-0 hole. The Bobcats added two runs in the second when Casey Cullen hit a two-out, two RBI single to make the score 6-0. Georgia added three runs in the fourth and a run in the fifth to put them ahead 10 -0.
Bloomsburg got on the board in the top of the sixth when Jeremy Eck (Williamsport/ Montoursville) singled home Chris Brown (Vestal, NY/ Vestal)from second base with two outs. That would be all the Huskies could manage against four Georgia College pitchers.
Dustin Johnson (Sunbury/Shikellemy) (1-2) took the loss pitching seven innings and striking out three.Jimmy Finley (2-0) earned the win for Georgia College. Georgia College improves to 22-3 while Bloomsburg falls to 2-10. Bloomsburg will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Aiken, South Carolina to take on USC-Aiken at 6 p.m.
